I think you are coming up just short of distinguishing between two concepts of "profit" here. On the one hand, just reward is regularly referred to as "profit," even as it represents only what we deserve from the pool of wealth we have contributed to. The "profit" I presume you're really advocating against could be said to be "unearned profit" -- that is, taking from the rest of us, beyond what has been contributed to the overall prosperity of the whole.

           

I place both meanings of the word profit into one category because in an Equal Money system the whole concept of ‘profit’ will not exist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juigOTzDas8 ). This is because there will be no value separate from Life. So, within this understanding, one will realize that a ‘means’ to exist does not need to be ‘earned.’ Life will be provided for in our system because being born and simply existing is reason enough to deserve to be provided for. To understand this we need to learn how to see past our own egos and self-interest to reveal our absolute equality with not only all other human beings, but also the plant and animal kingdoms we depend on to survive. The Equal Money System takes these facts into consideration by existing within the principle of ‘what’s best for all,’ and that includes environment, plants and animals. Within this, there is no ‘shared pool of wealth’ that we all contribute to, because WE ARE that wealth. It is not separate from us. ‘Money’ in an Equal Money System will be born when a human being is born, and will be only ‘spent’ on providing that human being with a dignified life. ‘Money’ will die when the human dies- therefore, no accumulation of wealth (as soon as the money is ‘spent,’ it ceases to exist).

 In our current system we need to pay for our survival, and we need to ‘earn’ money by working- as if our life has no inherent value. This is proven by the 1.5 billion people who are starving simply because they cannot earn money to afford to buy food, even though tons of food is wasted in developed countries. I’ve been told ‘if you don’t understand the value of life, have a child’, that is what the currency of the Equal Money System will represent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-Yf_PoMd_I ).

We need at least to distinguish between the two then, unless just reward too has to be dispensed with. While I agree with your object of arresting over-exploitation however, I don't think you can accomplish that object by eliminating just reward; and neither do I think you'd accomplish that object by eliminating unearned taking (exploitation).

“Just reward’ must certainly be dispensed with. We are taught from birth not to take responsibility for ourselves, but rather to act only when we are rewarded. First with bribery (e.g.: if you behave I'll let you watch another television program), treats (e.g: you can only have desert if you finish your dinner) and an allowance (do your chores and you'll get money)- then with a paycheck as we get older. Humanity needs an entire re-education as we have been living in a system of rewards, competition and winners and losers for generations.  There is immense value in learning what it is to do something for the sake of doing it, doing something because it's what's best for all, doing something because we have a responsibility to ourselves and to others. I can say this because I have experienced this self-expansion for myself through applying the Desteni tools of self-change within the realization that there is a lot that needs to be done in consideration for the rest of the world, and the ultimate 'reward' is creating a world that is best for all (in which case it would no longer be a reward- it would just 'be') (www.desteni.org). Furthermore, simply 'doing something' because we are living human beings and we can't just do nothing, but we can realize that there is enjoyment in presence and awareness within completing tasks that need to be completed and building self-trust and the ability to move ourselves without the motivation of a 'reward.' The concept of moving ourselves for ourvselves, and not for someone else or for the hopes or guarentee of receiving a reward for our actions, can onl be realized by everyone when their basic needs are met and they have security for theselves and their children in the future. Unfortuneately the opposite of this is what exists today.
The Equal Money System includes a complete overhaul of the education system because the current education system only teaches us how to survive and prosper in this system of competition, winners and losers and rewards. This system perpetuatates the idea and belief that one should only move oneself if there is a reward to be gained. Education in an EMS will be based on practical living, common–sense and a consideration for all Life. The reason is, that so long as the object of fishing is to take fish, even the pursuit of just reward compels exhaustive harvesting of fish. Of course, exploitation of a power to harvest compels even more taking (so you are right that eliminating unearned taking will at least reduce the compulsion to over-harvest).

      The object of fishing is to feed people- No more and no less than they need- and the fish themselves only have the value of what they are- living animals which happen to be edible and provide nourishment. In this way, fish will not be bought and sold, but rather provide unconditionally as they do already (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tqij0AhFMJw ). Humans have a responsibility to the fish and all other resources, as custodians of the earth and within great humility.

But we can't dispense with the proposition of just reward, because it's the very premise for our due, from the sum of prosperity to which we have contributed.

      We can dispense with the propositions of ‘just rewards’ if we change the economic system and the meaning of money altogether and instead realize that Life is an act of grace given to us unconditionally when we are born. The same premise will apply to money in an EMS, wherein nothing is ‘due’ or deserved as some value outside of us (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6cXWa2srnM&feature=feedu).

Thus we can't solve the problem of over-harvesting until we recognize the limited effectiveness and impropriety of doing so "economically" or monetarily.

Agreed.

Largely, over-harvesting of natural resources is a consequence of a further impropriety (which we can resolve). We believe wrongly that we borrow money from purported banking systems which in fact only publish further representations of our promissory obligations. The further unwarranted fact that these representations are subject to interest, inherently multiplies a sum of falsified debt, as we are forced to borrow principal back into circulation as new debt, equal to any former sum of debt which might otherwise be presumed to be resolved; and as we are forced to borrow interest back into circulation -- perpetually increasing a sum of falsified indebtedness by so much as periodic interest on an ever greater and eventually terminal sum of falsified debt.

This perpetual escalation of indebtedness is what compels us to harvest and to produce more and ever more, just to tread water against the resultant escalation of debt. Fix that (by mathematically perfected economy™), and you relieve the extent to which we must harvest more and more — but you wouldn't necessarily prevent over-harvesting or over-consumption, either.

In an EMS all debt will be erased as debt is modern slavery and is absolutely unacceptable. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpVgzjt6gq0). We live in a system where the value of money is merely an agreement- mostly just numbers on a screen- and it is created along with debt, out of thin air by those who have the means to do so. In this way, it is almost still a feudal system. When money is backed by Life- both the problem of the compulsion to keep one’s head above water, as well as the problem of over-fishing (over-consumption), are effectively solved, as fish (resources) will lose their monetary value and maintain only their actual value- once it is consumed, it is gone. The EMS is a common-sense system, very straight forward- take only as much fish as you need, ensuring the fisheries are able to complete their cycles and maintain their numbers.

As monetary justice has to meet its requisites, we can hardly serve our purpose by compromising monetary justice (eliminating just reward for example). Thus to achieve your object, we need to recognize that we have to directly limit harvesting. It's as simple as that.

The EMS will allow us to realize the equality that is already in fact here, only then we will truly experience justice for the first time. There is no justice in money at present, and there is no justice in a world where children are raped for money while you and I eat well and live with relative safety and security.

What's really important to understand therefore is how much the present exploitation of our money system compels us to our own destruction. We have two fronts here (also at least a third): 1) monetary justice; 2) just harvesting of resources (which owes an equal right to further generations; and 3) preservation of a rightful environment for all future generations.

We do not exploit our money system- we support it and allow it to exploit us, as us (we are the money system), and then we accept and allow our own destruction through our participation within and as it. Monetary justice is irrelevant because money only is what humans make it, so it is the ‘justice’ of the human that needs to be addressed. The EMS will allow money to simply be a means to feed and clothe and provide for that human as he learns what justice, equality, self-honesty, self-responsibility (etc) really means, what it really is and how to live according to it.
Concerning your points about equal harvesting of resources with a consideration for future generations- agreed, and the preservation of the environment now and for the generations to come-agreed- these need to be addressed/changed to equality based systems with a consideration of the ‘whole’.

We can only fix the latter two if we fix the first, because the first will make it impossible otherwise even to afford fixing the latter two.

A solution should not be affordable/unaffordable- a solution should be unconditionally provided- especially where the alternative is destruction. An EMS will allow for these types of solutions to be focused on until these systems are restored and the problems are fixed. People will not need to be paid to solve these problems. In an EMS- we will, step by step, solve the problem because it is in our best interest and in the best interest of all equally- including future generations to come. There are some who have not been brainwashed enough to only work for rewards (money), and who will step forward to work to make the world a better place. These are people of character and integrity, and they exist.

You know, upon a further look at the "EqualMoney" site... I'm afraid I can only say these preposterous propositions are a dime-a-dozen now. EqualMoney.Org doesn't even articulate the artificial monetary problems of our time. Much less does it solve them. If we're all guaranteed an equal wage, you destroy the whole principle of just reward; but neither do you solve the impetus for over-consumption. You still have to regulate harvesting if you don't want to over-harvest, because after all, if everyone can afford a share of the harvest, you have all the more mouths to feed (better than they are).

How do you reach monetary ideals, and how do you likewise meet the political requisites which accomplish these goals?

      If everyone can afford a share of the 'harvest' then competition amoung humans is eliminated, and the insecurity and fear for survival is gone becaue there is enough food to go around. I'm not saying this will be a magical transition, but one can predict that a child born into a Life without competition and with guarenteed security for Life, will be a different product than what children become today- this along with the reformed education system will assist the children (future population of earth) to be the kind of human being that are produced by and will perpetuate a system that cares for and supports all Life.\

The proposition of an Equal Money System will be ‘preposterous’ if you call it so and believe it to be so. If you call it impossible right off the bat then of course it will not be possible- because then you’ve already written it off and so you can’t even have a conversation about it. The thing is, it cannot be proven to be impossible, so that leaves only possibility, however improbable.  However, there is a large and growing international group who are well organized and dedicating themselves to the implementation of this system through political and democratic means (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1ZsYas-f40).

We are currently in school, getting degrees in law, education, psychology and politics. We are placing ourselves as effective members in the system, eliminating our debt, becoming financially stable, using our individual resources to further ourselves, implementing income earning solutions for the problem of funding political parties (http://eqafe.com/, http://desteniiprocess.com/ ) and placing ourselves all over the internet We are doing so visibly, through blogs and vlogs and our websites, and with our real names (google or youtube equal money- you’ll get pages of results).. We are building communication networks through every aspect of social media, sharing everything we are doing and how, and we are committed. This will take time because we are only several years in, but if you simply call it ‘preposterous’ right off the bat, of course that is what you will see and believe and that is what will be real for you.

But we see that this is possible simply because it is not impossible, and we are taking it as seriously as death, because people are dying (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axbF0wEJPJQ ). We have a plan and our collective actions accumulated over time will create results. Over the next ten years we are branding, educating ourselves and others, and flooding the internet with simple, straight forward information/realizations/understandings about our current economic system, explaining the workings of the Equal Money System, and pointing out the insanity of the former, and the common-sense and all-encompassing benefits of the latter. We are developing trust-worthy and self-honest online personas as we are becoming trustworthy and self-honest people in our own lives as we investigate ourselves and our own human nature in order to understand why we are the way we are, and how we are individually responsible for creating humanity that is the way it is (you can read our ‘process blogs’ to further understand this statement, if you go to networked blogs and search the words ‘desteni’ process’ and ‘equal money’).


1. First of all, you remove undeserved profit and cost from food. These involve the artificial inflation of (all) costs by perpetual multiplication of falsified indebtedness. This is solved not by promising an equal income, but by eliminating exploitation from the currency. Thus, as I wrote, mathematically perfected economy alone solves these issues; and likewise provides for us to sustain the most cost-effective means of production and distribution.

           

The EMS will remove undeserved profit and cost from food because food will be a resource that is unconditionally the right of everyone and will be provided to everyone as a fulfillment of that basic right. This problem is not solved with an equal income within the rules and boundaries of an economic system that treat money as if it has its own value. The EMS is an entire change in what money is, what an economic system is, and what resources are. Money is backed by Life, it represents your value as a human being, and it represent a means to access that food, water, shelter, medical treatment etc… to which each human being has the inherent right. In an EMS money will be but a tool for equality, to ensure each has enough, the economic system will reflect the unconditional giving that we witness when the earth provides for us. Resources are equal to us, there is no exploiting, there is a humble taking and an unconditional giving, as when you pluck a fruit from a tree and eat it, and then in turn water that tree and provide fertile soil. Mutual caring and considerations, because we can, because it makes sense, it is in our best interest, and it honours Life.

2. Equal income therefore solves nothing -- if anything, it might encourage many (or at least some) not to contribute to our overall prosperity as much as they might otherwise. The just rewards of true free enterprise therefore are the only real impetus to maximal overall prosperity -- shared equitably according to contribution. If you are hungry and you pick a plum from a ripe tree, needing 5 to stave your hunger, is your problem solved by promising to give you 4 more, even without a way to warrant someone will pick them?

The Basic Income Grant is only the initial stage of the implementation of the EMS. It will immediately solve poverty and starvation, preventable disease, dehydration, homelessness- and it will end all industries that people only participate within to survive- such as children selling their bodies to bring money home to their families and slave labour (insanely long hours/terrible conditions/less than adequate wages etc…) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhOH_IC68Hw ). Industries will end and it will be a mess for a while, but so long as everybody is fed, we can begin to take care of eachother and work out the implementation of the Equal Money System as we go. We face challenges as they are presented according to the principle of oneness and equality, and doing what’s best for all in all ways. We cannot predict the future, but we will stick to the principles when we need to find solutions.

3. On the further hand, if there are 5 of us, and there are only 10 plums on the tree, we *do* recognize our right is to two apiece. Neither is that object accomplished by a guaranteed income -- especially if that income equates to possible consumption still of more than 2 plums apiece.

We will care for the tree and the tree will continue to produce fruit unconditionally. The better care the tree is given, the more ample will be the fruit. We will plant the seeds of the fruit we eat, and we will grow an orchard, and we will care for that orchard as we care for ourselves. We will provide fruit to all those who need it, so long as it does not compromise the care of the orchard. We will supplement the fruit with the other food produced. This was a point in my video.

 In an EMS, food will be a local endeavor, community-organized and run. The ‘buy-local’ movement is already strong as it is a common sense solution, but it is struggling in our current economy. In an EMS it will be easily implemented as many communities are already figuring out ways to feed themselves without depending on corporate food. Even where I live- in a big city- I can order a ‘basket’ from a local farmer at a given price, and I will receive produce all season long, and there are even some that go through the winter.

4. To solve the problem of just consumption therefore, we have to decide to limit consumption to a just share. This isn't to artificially increase the costs of plums beyond the regular cost of harvesting them. It just means we have to say each of us can only have two.

The EMS is an equality-based system, so each person will get not an exactly equal share, but what they need to be healthy and to function at their ultimate capacity. I don’t eat as much as my husband does, so he can have two plums, and I’ll have one, meaning- to each what he or she requires.

5. The only solution of all this then is mathematically perfected economy™, in conjunction with responsible regulation of rights to consume finite resources.

Fisheries In An Equal Money System

I made a video on my youtube channel and as I was writing the description it turned into a blog. It started off with a point about over-fishing and how international 'law' cannot stop states from depleting natural resources because of profit/overconsumption/capitalism etc... and how the relentless pursuit of profit results in a world of lack, whereas if you simply remove profit the world can provide for all. The blog ends with the corosion of the middle-class, which may seem unrelated, but as every aspect of Life is dependant on money, it is all connected. The international stage is a macrocosmic example of human behaviour, human nature, human interaction and its results/consequences.

International law (specifically, in this video, public international law) is not a common-sense system. It is more like a grab-all where states (countries) snatch up all natural resources without any consideration for the future implications of their actions. The customs, norms, treaties and public international ‘laws’ that are formed around this principle of greed can barely contain the overconsumption that capitalistic behavior constantly pushes on natural systems. Overconsumption has become normative and customary profit-creating behavior, and this behavior has accumulated over time to form the current condition of Life on earth- specifically the yawning gap between the rich and poor.

International law has its roots in maritime law because international, or ‘shared’ waters, are the first places states began to interact with each other on common grounds. Fisheries cases are those in which state’s fight over who has rights to which fishing areas. Conflict usually arises when over-fishing takes place, or when certain state’s simply want more than their fair share.

Seafood is a lucrative business, and the economy of many coastal states depends on the resources provided by the sea. No matter how bad the condition of the sea, the sea bed or the species living therein, the economy of a country is always placed above the health of the natural resource. Only when the resource is depleted, destroyed or almost destroyed do states begin to change their behavior- out of necessity- indicating that change IS in fact possible. There are alternatives, there are better ways to live, overconsumption is not necessary and the natural systems that provide for us need change to happen NOW.

In an Equal Money System, the economic system will be changed entirely to stop this endless pressure on the natural systems to meet our ever growing demand. As the minority of human beings profit off of this action, the majority is left starving, or close to it, and natural systems such as fisheries are being devastated.

The Equal Money System will take profit out of the equation, allowing for needed change to not only become ‘affordable’, but to become the focus of all human action. Soon enough, the consequences of our current behaviour will start becoming more apparent and affecting us more directly. Anyone who has any kind of common-sense knows that action is required NOW to reduce our future suffering, and the current and future suffering of the masses, the environment and of course, the suffering of generations to come.

We need only gain control over our own greed and self-interest, and investigate it to see and realize that consumerism is programmed into us from birth. We don’t have to be these programmed working robots that act as cogs in the profit machine, working our lives away to support a system that destroys Life and takes our freedom. We are not free- we are slaves to money. An Equal Money System will allow us to experience freedom for the first time, because we will no longer be the modern-day slaves that we are.

      Only the wealthy will not agree with my statements, but I know that the middle-class is corroding. The dream of working hard your whole life to retire at 60 and sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour are slowly fading as the illusion we were sold is proving to be nothing but smoke and mirrors- a lie that benefitted only very few. Middle-class income has only declined in the last three decades; while the cost of living has sky rocketed. I know there is more stress, more struggle and more hopelessness because if you look for the signs you can see it everywhere. What is the point of Life if all we’re doing is working our whole lives only to be able to scrape by, while those below us are starving and those above us are living in the lap of luxury. Only those who choose ignorance and who choose to put blinders on will continue to believe there is some kind of hope or light at the end of the tunnel. Life is not a lottery, we need to stop holding our breath and hoping for a break. Those who choose to open their eyes and see reality will see that the Equal Money Solution is really the only solution that has been put on the table that actually addresses the real problems we are facing.

Elephant Slaughter for Ivory Will be Banned in an Equal Money System

              

          Even though the procurement of ivory has been banned in many countries, the sale of ivory still persists. ‘Legal’ ivory, otherwise known as ‘pre-ban’ ivory is that which was ‘harvested’ before the banning of ivory, and is still circulating in the market. The problem is that there is insufficient world-wide legislation to actually stop the barbaric slaughter of elephants for their tusks. So long as there is a lucrative market for the product, the killing will continue. Pre-ban ivory maintains the demand for ivory, and consequently promotes the acceptance and allowance of the killing of elephants to the point where some species have become compromised.

                Ivory has no real value to human beings, the only value that exists is the ideas we’ve made up about the ivory, and ironically, because of the ideas we’ve placed on the animal that grows it. However, in purchasing and valuing ivory we are in fact supporting the slaughtering of elephants. If we are able to stop participating in the ideas we’ve created for ourselves about animal products, then we will see that they are completely unnecessary, as we have made synthetic versions of everything we could possibly need. 

                In an Equal Money System (EMS) the slaughtering of any life-form for reasons that aren’t completely necessary will absolutely cease to continue. Products that cause harm at any stage in their production and/or procurement process will either cease to exist, or alternative ways to obtain them will be researched and utilized instead. 

                Due to the fact that there will be no ‘bottom-line’ in an EMS, pollution will be cut to the bare minimum. Synthetic products will be produced in such a way that is harmless to the environment, and alternatives will be found where this is not possible. In an EMS, the focus of human ingenuity will center on quality of life and within that, the balance of the earth will be restored. Human waste will not exceed the earth’s capacity to filter it, because research and innovation will not cease until that point is reached and maintained.

                In an EMS, all life will be honoured and not slaughtered for profit, because it is commonsense. This is not some kind of an altruistic oath, it is in our best interest as human beings to maintain and care for the plant and animal kingdoms that we depend on to survive. It is time to realize that we are equal to the physical substance of the earth, and when we start to place bizarre values on to things like elephant ivory, or certain minerals, or even different animals or people, things start getting really crazy and insane, and we end up with the kind of world we see today.

                It is time for us to stop behaving like mindless zombie robots that can’t see past our own personal experiences and start taking responsibility for the mess we’re in, because that mess is getting very, very big. The brutal slaughter of innocent elephants is insane, yet our current system not only justifies it, but greatly rewards it. And everybody who buys ivory is responsible for this, and everybody who supports the system that rewards the procurement of ivory is responsible, and everybody who pays to survive supports this system, so we are all responsible. We are responsible to come up with and implement a new system. This is already happening so hop on the bandwagon that’s rolling towards the kind of sanity that we all know exists, but that we just haven’t experienced  yet. Equal Money- the common-sense solution we can live with.

OCD will End in an Equal Money System.

            It’s interesting that in our economic system it makes more sense not to cure an illness, but instead to treat the symptoms forever. What is the motivation for pharmaceutical companies to find a cure when that would end the profit-making capabilities of the illness? The most practical alternative for pharmaceutical companies, and even doctors, dentists, hospitals, psychiatrists and the like, is to keep treatment going for as long as possible.

            I’m not making any accusations here, and I’m not saying anything new. I’m simply looking at the issue from the perspective of what our economic system validates and produces versus what an Equal Money System would validate and produce. When I did a little research about OCD I discovered that it is very common and it is generally treated with medication, and/or behavior modification (cognitive therapy) for an average of three hours a day. Most sites admit very little is known about the causes of OCD and are not sure why the medication works. Many sites asked for donations to assist them in their research. I also noticed that the impact of OCD on society was measured in damages, in other words, how much money is lost, or how much society has to pay to treat people with the disorder. Lastly I noticed that statistically, many sufferers do not seek treatment.

            What I derive from these findings is that our economic system does not support adequate research into illnesses and disorders. That would require substantial resources to be diverted into the research, study and one-on-one treatment of people in need over a long period of time. Although in the long run this would probably produce more productive and healthy human beings- why cut profit when you can inadequately fund research (proven by the fact that research companies are asking for donations from the public), and still make billions of dollars from the sales of pharmaceuticals and other forms of treatment.

            In terms of the high incidence of OCD sufferers who do not seek treatment, the most common reason given was that they were ashamed and embarrassed about their disorder.

 If you take all the information into consideration you’ll notice three things:

1) When a country’s ‘success’ and ‘health’ is measured by its wealth, then sick people are a liability. They are an expense and a burden to society. They are then a threat to the prosperity and well-being of others. This creates a stigma around health issues and psychological health, and makes it hard to ‘come out’ about having an illness or disease.

2) If someone suffering from OCD is not from a country with universal healthcare, or can’t afford insurance, then treatment is simply not an option. Also, behavioural treatment can take hours a day and requires serious commitment. This can become difficult when you spend the majority of your day at a job and then get home at the end of the day to the rest of life’s responsibilities.
(Then there are all the countries in the world that lack adequate professionals, facilities, education and literacy to even begin thinking about the treatment of psychological disorders, due to lack of money).

3) Our society doesn’t promote health and healing or the self-introspection required to realize that: a) you have a mental disorder, and b) that you require help. As we rush around in life from one distraction to the next we become blind to who we really are and what’s going on inside of us. Society rather promotes us doing whatever we want, whenever we want, and then taking a pill as a ‘quick fix’ to make us feel better.             In an Equal Money System (EMS) the concept of money will be changed in its entirety, so that resources are not limited by money.  If there’s enough food on the planet to feed everybody, then everybody should eat. If there are enough doctors to treat the sick, the sick should be treated, and if there’s enough shelter, transportation and technology for everybody to receive protection from the elements and all the resources required for a dignified life, then they will get them. And the fact is that there are enough resources to provide everybody with a dignified life. And where there aren’t, attention will be focused and practical solutions will be worked towards instead of wasting all our time and resources on  services to distract us, or junk and gadgets that we don’t need. Money will be backed by the value of life, and so the quality of life will be the foremost priority of the system.

            Therefore, in an Equal Money System, the treatment of diseases and disorders such as OCD will be funded and researched unconditionally until solutions are found. Sick people and people with mental disorders will be provided unconditional care and treatment for as long as it takes until they are effectively cured. They will not been seen as a liability or a burden to society, but rather as keys to unlock the mysteries of the human physical mind and body, so that the next generation can be born into a world where similar disorders are immediately identified and effectively treated- worldwide.

Ivy League schools only make sense in the current context of a profit-based system. They are really not all about a superior education. They are actually all about money. Only the rich can afford them while the poor are left in inadequate schools which leave them ill-prepared for life in the system. Those who attend Ivy League schools are taught with exclusive efficacy, how to make money. They are taught how to work within and support the system and therefore the system rewards them. But as they work within and support the system, they are at the same time supporting the slavery of the poor, and all the consequences of poverty.

            Graduates of Ivy League schools are given a huge head-start in life in the system. The poor, and even the middle-class, don’t have a chance at competing with them. Yet with all the superior intellect that is supposedly produced by an Ivy League education, nobody has thought up an effective solution to end hunger, or to prevent war and create peace. Neither has anyone been taught how to extend a hand out to help lift their fellow humans up out of poverty. Instead we depend on the poor to remain poor. We depend on the inadequate education of the masses, because if everybody had an Ivy League education, the system would collapse as people would not stand for the system of inequality that exists today.

            In an Equal Money System, the only kind of education system that will make sense is one that provides all human beings with a superior education. Ivy League schools will not exist because they necessarily imply the existence of sub-par education. In an EMS, the education of a person will be to the benefit of everybody, because that person will understand how to exist in this world in an effective and responsible way that considers the rest of life beyond their own experience.

            In an EMS, education will be practical. It will teach people how to live in a way that improves the condition of the earth and the plants, animals and people upon it, so that we leave it in better condition than when we came. Currently, the destruction and devastation that takes place daily is actually justified by current economics. Pollution and waste make sense in capitalism, because it’s cheaper and thus better for the bottom line. But we are leaving a living hell to our grandchildren, who will not be able to trust the water they drink, or eat the fish from the sea, or live in a world where they have security and peace of mind.

            So the answer is No; Ivy League schools will not exist in an Equal Money System, because they support a system of inequality that enslaves the masses and causes millions of innocent people to starve and suffer. Besides, no Ivy League school has ever produced a solution. No amount of expensive education has stopped, slowed or reversed the negative effects of our current system. Everything has gotten worse, and is continuing to get worse all over the world. And it can all be traced back to the economic system. The problem is that it is the very same system that produced Ivy League schools in the first place. Ivy League schools are a product of this system, they are a benefit to this system, and this system benefits them. That is why we propose a change in the economic system- to one that makes sense in reality. The current system is insane, and it acts more like a cancer that will end up killing everyone if it is not stopped. The only benefits it provides are short term profit for the rich, but it looks as though that term is up.                 It’s hard to imagine a world not motivated by money. Every single thing we do in our lives requires to be paid for in one way or another. Money is the driving force in our reality because money is our only ticket to survival, whether it comes from our own pocket or somebody else’s. We as humanity have created and maintained a system of inhumanity that is our economic system. Within this system we are all enslaved in some form or another. Even the rich, who behave according to the conservation and accumulation of wealth first and foremost,  are enslaved by money.

So what will motivate people to work in an economic system that will provide for them unconditionally? What will replace the struggle to survive for most, and the fear of losing the comfort and security of wealth for others? Force will certainly not be used in an Equal Money System (EMS), as it goes against the very principle the system is founded upon, which is equality and oneness, doing what’s best for all, doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, giving and receiving as one single action, loving your neighbor…. It’s the same principle in each case, and force will no longer exist because it will have no logical place.

The provision of basic necessities and a comfortable life will be the norm in an EMS, allowing peace of mind to proliferate. The weight that we carry around today as a result of the fear, stress and anxiety that come from a future of financial uncertainty will be lifted. The fear of providing a good life for our children will be gone. And the burden of a 35-55 hour work week will be taken away. At the moment we work in a system that depends on exponential growth, so we have to do more and more work for less and less pay.

It’s not difficult to consider what type of human being an Equal Money System will create, or what children born into this system will become. As children grow up in this system, they will never have to experience the kind of self-compromise we live with today. They will be supported in every way possible to realize their full potential. Therefore, they will have no rational reason to grow up to be lazy, unmotivated and dependent. They will have every reason to be like most young children are today: curious and energetic, excited by the world, fearless to explore themselves and their environment, willing to contribute. It is these qualities and more which are some of the wonders of life that we adults will have to re-learn in order to understand why we will work in an Equal Money System (EMS).

Imagine a human being moved daily by curiosity instead of a pay check, a willingness to contribute instead of stress and anxiety, or excitement and eagerness instead of a benefits package. In an EMS work will be meaningful and will enhance the quality of life as work will only be that which one chooses to do. Whether it’s a fine craft or art, an aptitude for helping others, teaching, research, or forestry etc… it will be done for the sake of the enjoyment one experiences while doing it, while at the same time contributing to all of life. That is giving and receiving at the same time. That is how the system will have people ‘do the work’.

As for the jobs nobody wants to do, the ones that are necessary for the functioning of society: There will be a 4 year period of time after schooling is complete, where all human beings will contribute in this way (maintenance, production etc...). They will be paid, respected and will learn to work together in a supportive rather than competitive environment. This period of time will be spent among peers and will be a very enjoyable time in everyone’s life. Meanwhile, youth will be learning how society functions, what it means to contribute and receive, as well as many of the practical skills required in life.
